Mount Washington Hotel Photographs

Framed by the scenic White Mountains in New Hampshire, the historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH was built in 1902 by industrialist Joseph Stickney, a wealthy railroad magnate. This National Historic Landmark became a favorite summer holiday destination for presidents, royalty, the fashionable and the rich.

In 1944, the Mount Washington Hotel was site to one of the most important monetary conferences ever held: The Bretton Woods Monetary Conference. Economic delegates from 44 nations descended on the hotel to determine how to rebuild the world's financial structure once WWII was over.
